Last week was a big week in the world of fake watch auctions, with Antiquorum, Bonhams, and Christies all hosting sales in New York. Tomorrow Bonhams London will host the last big sale of 2013 in New Bond Street. And along with some amazing chronographs and a selection of interesting Replica Rolexes, there are some truly exceptional pocketwatches hitting the block.
Rolex Oyster Pocket Watch
First up is this 9k gold Oyster case pocket fake watch from Replica Rolex (Lot 24). Made circa 1940, the fake watch has a cushion style case with milled bezel, screw on back, open dial, and much more ornate hands than you are probably used to seeing from Replica Rolex. The estimate here is $1,600-2,400.
Platinum and Rock Crystal Pocket Watch
If you want something slightly more unusual, there is Lot 22, a Lacloche Frères open face pocket fake watch from 1925. What makes this piece so special is the case, which is a combination of platinum and rock crystal - you'll notice the Saturn-like rings around the platinum case. This is definitely a quirky Art Deco design, and with an estimate of $2,400-3,200 a really interesting find.
Patek Philippe For Tiffany & Co.
We've told you about the new Patek Philippe 5396G for Tiffany & Co., but this is a "Tiffany Dial" Patek pocket fake watch from circa 1920 (Lot 20). The platinum case is accented with a gilt and black enamel bezel and an ornate bow and crown, and the enamel dial features beautiful platinum arabic numerals and platinum hands. The estimate on this replica watches $4,000-4,800 and for that price you get a beautiful piece of watchmaking history.
Invar Grande Sonnerie
Stepping back a few years, to circa 1880, we get this Invar Grande Sonnerie with an 18k gold full hunter case (Lot 35). The case here is absolutely stunning and fits perfectly into an original presentation box that has a button on the side for activating the sonnerie - this way you can keep the fake watch tucked safely away at night but still use the repeater if you need it. The estimate on this fake watch with the original presentation box is $4,800-6,400.
Vacheron Constantin Triple Complication
A Closer Look At The Triple Complication's Dial
Finally, we have Lot 192, a Vacheron Constantin triple complication pocket fake watch from 1964. This fake watch is a reference 6526, of which Vacheron only made six examples (this is number three). The fake watch is keyless, and features a minute repeater, perpetual calendar, phases and age of the moon, a split-seconds chronograph, and a progressive 30 minute register. For such a complicated fake watch the dial is very clean and easy to read. Estimated at $130,000-160,000, the fake watch comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Vacheron Constantin.
